There are various options available to do the registrations, including:

• Promotional software programs: These can submit your web pages to hundreds of search engines, directories and individual web sites. The problem associated with many of these promotional programs is that a large percentage of the "search engines" on their lists are actually businesses that will accept your registrations and then use your email address to promote their own products and/or will sell your email address on mailing lists.
  
  Our recommendation is to individually select the search engines and directories that you will submit your web site to. You can do this with many submission programs or hire a marketing service to handle this for you. There is also the option of manually registering your web site in appropriate search engines and directories. By submitting to legitimate, heavily trafficed search engines and directories, you can be assured that your site will be accessible when people are trying to locate information about your product or service.

  New search engines are introduced frequently and submission rules and categories can change so it's important that you consistently reregister your web site at least every three months.

  Before you begin registering your web pages in any search engines or directories, take a few moments and write down all the information you'll require. Here is the information you should have ready before you begin and you can obtain the site details from the Meta Tags you've created:

  • Your Name:
    
  • Your Mailing Address:
    
  • Your Telephone & Fax numbers:
    
  • Your Business Name:
    
  • Your Web site Address (URL):
    
  • Your email address:
    
  • Title of each web page and it's URL:
    
  • Long Description of web page or site (2 to 3 sentences):
    
  • Brief Description of web page or site (1 sentence):
    
  • Keywords (in order of importance & separated by commas):
  
  You can use a new email message and simply copy and paste the information from this page to the appropriate area in the submission form.

  There's no standard form in submitting your web pages. Some search engines and directories will ask for most of the above and others will require only the URL and email address if they use spider robots to visit your site and gather the information.
